Weldcote CEO Joe Omera spoke with GAWDA Media Vice President of Sales Tim Hudson at the 2023 GAWDA Spring Management Conference. In the interview, the two chatted about Weldcote’s expanded product line and what the company can offer its customers.

Weighing only 21.4 pounds, the Striker 160 machine is a small, compact, dual voltage (115 volt or 230 volt) single-phase inverter unit with digital readouts that automatically identifies the power grid voltage and operates accordingly.

The new ER70S-6 wire is available in spools for MIG welding applications and cut lengths for TIG welding applications. The wire produces optimum flow and a consistent welding arc, which diminishes weld spatter and offers improved bead finish.

The new mild steel electrodes are available in a complete range of AWS classifications to meet a variety of welding positions, from out-of-position, horizontal or flat welding. Applications include pipe welding, shipyards, water towers, storage tanks, greasy, painted or poorly cleaned base metals, automobile and truck bodies, automotive frames, metal furniture, sheet metal and field welding of bridges and structural steels.

Weldcote Slitter wheels are available in 4-1/2-inch and 6-inch sizes with a standard 7/8-inch arbor hole. Designed for precise and quick cutting on high-quality steel, these thin abrasive wheels constructed of high-quality, mono-crystallized grain are manufactured in Germany using a patented manufacturing process.

Weldcote Korner flap discs are available in both high-quality zirconia and ceramic grains that promote fast metal removal. With a poly-cotton backing for superior flexibility, the zirconia Z-PRIME version is available in 4-1/2-, 5-, 7-inch sizes and in grits ranging from 36 to 80.

Used for finishing, grinding, deburring and blending applications, Weldcote’s high-quality Quick-Change, Roll-On, ceramic C-PRIME discs are manufactured of an improved ceramic grain structure that is available in seven grits ranging from 24 to 120 in its two-inch size disc and six grits ranging from 24 to 120 in its three-inch size disc.

Offering high value-to-price performance, Weldcote’s ALU-PRIME flap disc design allows the discs to work longer and more effectively before needing to be changed out. A second-tier calcium stearate reduces material buildup between grains, helping to prevent the aluminum from loading. The flap discs also allow the end-user to keep the work material cooler.

The ability to trim the back plate on flap discs allows operators to use the discs for a longer period of time, increasing disc life by up to 65 percent. Constructed of nylon 6, the backing is durable, yet trimmable, and much more comfortable to work with than hard plastic. The backing also provides excellent flexibility, making it ideal for applications with corners.

Weldcote’s C-PRIME flap discs feature strong polyester backing for aggressive grinding applications that do not require excessive flexibility. The C-PRIME PLUS flap discs feature an industry-first, poly-cotton backing with high-quality ceramic grain, which provides excellent stretch and flexibility while adding enough strength to maximize the aggressive cutting points of ceramic grain.
